Summer Beauty and Body Care

Many of us our counting down the days until we go on our summer vacation. But all that sun and heat can bring some embarrasing beauty problems, from body acne to unwanted hair. We've spoken to the experts to make sure you look your best this summer.

Treat Your Feet
Feet can have a hard time in the summer. "Dressing up and going to parties can mean wearing shoes you're not used to, triggering blisters, lumps and bumps," says podiatrist Mike O'Neill of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists (www.feetforlife.org). "Always wear shoes around the house before you put them on for an event," O'Neill advises.

Also, the areas of your feet that sweat the most are prone to blisters, because sweat makes the skin there softer and more sensitive, according to O'Neill. "So each day during the summer, rub surgical spirit around your heels and toes.

Letters to the editor

To the Editor,

Hello folks. I am writing this letter to say thank you and farewell to those of you I've had the pleasure of getting to know while I've worked at the Razor's Edge in Kennebunk. I have decided to move on, and while I would like to be able to say goodbye to each of you in person, this seemed like the best way to reach out to all of you as a group. I have thoroughly enjoyed the friendships that I've developed with you (there have been many a good laugh!) and I thank you for that, as well as for your patronage. I will be working at a traditional, old-fashioned type barber shop in Wells, so if any of you men aren't quite ready to say goodbye, be looking for the ad I've placed in both the Post and the Coast Star. To you women, I apologize, but this is one fraternity that is not quite ready to go co-ed! I wish you all the best and hope to run into you again somewhere around town.
